It’s Time to Make Tax Time Less Taxing – Did You Know That’s Possible?
February 13, 2017

It’s tax time once again.

Whether those words fill you with excitement (Big Returns! Shopping Sprees! New Shoes!) or dread (I owe HOW MUCH??), one thing is for certain – there’s plenty of private information to be filled out, which can quickly become a challenge if you can’t remember how to log-in to your accounts or find the information you need.

But – there is a way to make this tax season less taxing. SecureKey is once again teaming up with the Government of Canada and Canada’s largest financial institution partners to answer common questions, dispel common myths, and help make filing as easy and accessible as possible.

We’re calling it the “Did You Know?” campaign.
What is the point of “Did You Know?” Studies have shown that two out of three Canadians forget passwords for sites they don’t visit regularly, and three out of four admit they use the same passwords across multiple sites – many of which have not been changed in five or more years[1].

With cybercrime on the rise each year, it’s more important than ever for you to be able to access e-gov services easily and securely— without creating more usernames and passwords that can jeopardize your info or be forgotten 12 months from now (if not before!).

“Did You Know” is an effort to educate citizens about some of the ways that they can more easily access e-gov services and ensure that their data is protected.
For instance: Did You Know that you can check your Old Age Security (OAS) Benefits, access your Canada Pension Plan (CCP), and/or view your RRSP information, all using your bank log-in?

Who’s Participating?

With services hosted on the Government of Canada’s platforms, current sign-in partners include:

  • ACPOL
  • Affinity Credit Union
  • BMO
  • Caisse Populaire Acadienes
  • Choice Rewards Master Card
  • CIBC
  • Desjardins
  • National Bank
  • RBC Royal Bank
  • ScotiaBank
  • Tangerine
  • TD Canada Trust

How Does Single Sign-On Work?
Through our SecureKey Concierge service, we are providing citizens with the ability to sign in to more than 80 federal e-gov services using the bank log-in credentials they already have. Just visit the e-gov site you wish to access, and log-in with your banking credentials! A triple-blind approach ensures that no personal information is ever shared between your bank and the services you access.
