How far will states go to protect businesses and consumers?

Hello there, and welcome to the SecureKey blog.

The Wall Street Journal recently reported that officials in California has passed a bill that would require a kill switch feature in all smartphones offered by vendors and manufacturers in the state. This is yet another landmark decision by the government there, as it was among the first to enact modern data breach notification laws.

According to the source, this is part of a push to reduce information exposure that is caused by stolen or lost devices – which also happen to be among the fastest-expanding sources of breach.

Dynamic authentication solutions that anchor identities to the devices themselves can offer further protection.
